OOOOups.......

This is the picture of the leak from BP on June 22nd, 2010.

Though it has been said that the situation has been contained, and the media has since then shifted its gears on other crisis in the world: such as malaria; the controversy with the nobel prize winner this year,  Liu Xiaobo; or Aung San Suu Kyi from the Burmanese Opposition party.....

Now, the oil spill has been left out from the public eyes, but there are still a lot left to be done.

The amount of oil to be cleared out still requires much attention in order to alleviate the impacts it has been done to the local habitants and fauna. After capping the wellhead, it has been estimated 185 million gallons of crude oil was emited, which is the approximately 53,000 barrels per day.

As the inhabitants suffered from the fishing and tourism industry, the marine and the wildlifes have suffered even greater impacts. It affects dolphins, manatees, young herons, sea turtles, least terns, snowy plover, pelicans, crabs and whooping cranes.

Many mammals, and aqualifestyle animals will suffer severe consequences: as dolphins will get damaged from inhaling oil, which will affect their lungs amd mucus membranes; The manatees will get their eyesight affected; the endangered seaturtles that eat seagrass in order to keep the seagrass short and healthy might lose their reproduction level; and the least terns, which only has 2,000 living in Biloxi Missisipi might go extinct.

This spill has impact the whole animal reproductivity and wildlife, and more should be done concerning this situation, instead of turning a blind eye to its aftermath.
